Time To Get Outdoors Again!

My photo from two years ago.

Two Christmases ago, I took my then-new camera on a photo trip in the mountains about two hours east of Seattle. I was on a beautiful road with the Wenatchee River cutting a natural hydro-highway directly to the right. I got so many excellent photos that day, and now I’m planning on taking that same trip again this thursday or friday – depending on the weather.

One of the “sight-seeing” places along the way is a location called Deception Falls. Albeit easy to hear the roar of water, it’s very hard to see the waterfall because it’s hidden within clusters of trees. There was only one or two people there the day I went, but they were already leaving. So this meant I could be all alone to focus on photographing the falls – that and opening my senses to perfect Nature.

Anyway, that’s where I’m headed this week (again, if the weather is suitable). I only got to spend twenty minutes there that last time, so I’m planning on exploring the trails a little way along the river. I haven’t had the opportunity to do a major landscape/nature shoot in a very long time. I’m going to have one word in my mind while I shoot this photos, though: Portfolio. My landscape folder is looking pretty bare in my Portfolio, so I need to add to it. This is my chance!

New Photos From 12-1-11 Shoot!

My favorite shot from today.

Today, I had one of my favorite photoshoots since starting photography. It was just my friend (and my girlfriend’s best friend) Jamie, my girlfriend, and I. There was an abundance of good conversation, smiles, and laughter. That’s what it’s all about!

I knew Jamie was the one to ask to do this shoot. She’s in drama, which I think helps with being in front of the lens. She was comfortable and composed, and because of that I got exactly what I wanted out of the shoot. What’s cool is that I saw this spot for only a split second driving by the other day, and I automatically knew it was perfect for what I wanted to do. Next time this happens, I’ll be sure not to pass up the opportunity for great photographs!

You’ll be able to find these photos under the Commercial folder in the Portraiture section of my Portfolio. I’ve also uploaded one of the smilers from today into the Formal folder! Check it out!

Commercial Photos Are Up!

I’ve finally decided to create my Commercial Portraiture section in the Portfolio. There you can find commercial/fashion-esque photos of mine – some of my favorite things to shoot! It’ll be a growing section of my Portfolio since I haven’t had very many photoshoots in this style yet, but it will soon be full of creative portraits. It’s very exciting to shoot these photos and I can’t wait to get the ball rolling (I have many ideas in my head already)! Be sure to click on the Portraiture section of my Portfolio and view the Commercial folder! While you’re in that area of my site, you can also take a look at the Formal section, where you’ll find things that are a little more . . . well, formal! Things that mom and dad would love to have in the living room!

The Collective Portfolio Augmentation

My Portfolio is jam-packed with testosterone. I need to photograph some girls.

I’ve had a shoot in my mind for a little while, and I think it’s time to commit to it. I know who I want to photograph, and I think she’s very capable of giving me the photos I’m looking for. Actually, I had a quick chat with her last month to see if she was up for it, and she seemed excited! Unfortunately, it’s holiday season at my job and my schedule was overloaded with work hours that conflicted with her school schedule. So tonight I’m going to talk to her about it.

I have a small collection of commercial-type portrait photos that I’m waiting to upload to the Portraiture section of my Portfolio. The only thing that’s keeping me from uploading is the amount: 3. And these kind of commercial “fashion-esque” photos are really interesting and I love shooting them. Time to think up some creative Portfolio-shoots!
